He was predeceased by: his parents, John Schmid and Catherine Reiner Schmid; and his siblings, Catherine Schmid, Rosemary Petty, Andrew and Robert Schmid.
He is survived by: his wife Laverne; his children, Joseph (Charlene) of Shavertown, David (Eileen) of Dover, Delaware, Steven (Andrea) of Slocum Township and Diane Hochreiter (Rich) of Mountain Top; his grandchildren, Janna, Joseph, David, Ryan, Michelle, Cecelia, Lauren and R. J.; his great grandchildren, Ethan, Owen, Aubrey, Roman, Leola, Moses, Mia and Grant; and his siblings, John (Dolores) of Wisconsin and Elizabeth Strzelecki of Wapwallopen.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Mary's Church, Dorrance, PA and the Marine Corp League in White Haven, PA.
