Laura (Slezak) Bregande Obituary
Laura Bregande, née Slezak, (1931 – 2022) was the beloved wife of the late Marion Augustine Bregande. They were married in 1951 and built a house in Gradyville, Pennsylvania, raising six children along with caring for the family's numerous dogs and cats.
Laura passed away on Friday, May 6, 2022 at Crozer-Chester Medical Center. She was 91 years old on March 8, 2022 and resided in Wallingford, Pennsylvania. Born 1931 in Chester, Pennsylvania, Laura was the daughter of the late John Slezak and the late Mary Konopka Slezak, who immigrated from Poland, and predeceased by all her nine siblings: Sophie Mills, Walter Slezak, Stella Moletteri, Edward Slezak, John Slezak, Jr, Theodore Slezak, Adam Slezak, Mary Roach, (Laura), and Martin Slezak.
She is survived by five of her six children: Michael Bregande (Cynthia), late Dennis Bregande, Sr. (Ruth), Michele Bregande, Denise Bregande-Fennemore (Glenn), Andrea Bregande Faulk (Denny), and Laurie Rodgers (David).
Grandmother of 17 children: (Michael Bregande) Matthew (Amanda), Mark, David, and Cara; (Dennis Bregande, Sr.) Rachel Broadway (Eric), the late Dennis, Jr., Nina, Cole, and Cody; (Denise Bregande-Fennemore) stepchildren Melissa Huffman (Scott), and Matthew Fennemore (Kimberly); (Andrea Bregande Faulk) Zachary, Victoria, Averi, and Alex; (Laurie Rodgers) Ethan, and Liam.
Great-grandmother of 12 children (Matthew Bregande) Michael, Stephen, Karleigh, and Briella; (Rachel Broadway) Dylan, and Fiona; (Dennis Bregande, Jr. / Angie Boyer) Aidrianna; (Melissa Huffman) Noa, Jaxon, and Kenzie; (Matthew Fennemore) Mary-Jeanne, and Odin.
Godmother to Gloria Jean Abel (Joseph), and Deborah Taylor (Glenn).
In addition to spending precious time with her family and others, Laura also enjoyed cooking, entertaining, fashion, and travelling especially to the beach and Kentucky, playing cards in particular bridge, and her pets. She supported many causes, and was always willing to give of herself. Laura was a firm believer in education, as well as a devout Catholic. Her courage and strength, willpower and confidence, empathy, love, and prayer will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
Visitation will be from 9:45AM until 10:45AM with a Funeral Mass at 11:00AM on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 430 Valleybrook Road, Glen Mills, PA. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
