He was predeceased by: his wives, Dolores Billingsly and Joan Bressett; and his grandson John E. Mercadante. He is survived by: his children, John Mercadante, III (Ann), Rosemary Lako, Matthew J. Mercadante (Colleen), Cecilia McCormick (John), Monica Gevirtz (David), Regina Mercadante, Annette Neri (Michael) and Francis Mercadante. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

“I first met Mr. Mercadante (I was always too scared to call him John) back when I was in high school and I have many fond memories of him. Most notably his really really firm handshake and his big smile. He lived a long life and raised a family who truly loved and respected him.
