William H. Smith Obituary
William H. "Bill" Smith, 73, of Vandergrift passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022 in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights PA.
Born on June 17, 1948 in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Otto and Alta (Smith) Smith.
Bill lived in Vandergrift all of his life and was a 1967 graduate of Kiski Area High School. He was a proud veteran of the US Army, Bill served during the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal.
He was a glass technician for Stanford Glass in Oklahoma Borough for 43 years until his retirement in 2010.
Bill was a member of the Vandergrift VFW #577 and Parks Township Sportsmen's Club.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, cooking and tinkering in his shed.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Debbie L. (Smith) Smith; daughter, Rebecca (Justin) Hilty of Gilpin Township; son, Michael (Leslie) Smith of Laceyville, PA; grandsons, Ethan Smith, Austin Stewart and Christopher Stewart; step-sons, Todd (Amy) Wolfe of Apollo, Travis Wolfe of Greensburg; four step grandchildren; one step great grandson; sister, Marjorie D. (Harold) Cline of Vandergrift and a niece, Kimberly (Brian) Richard of Vandergrift.
At Bill's request all services are private and have been entrusted to the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Apollo PA.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contribution in Bill's memory be made to the American Heart Association, 444 Liberty Avenue, Ste 1300, Pittsburgh PA 15222-1207; American Lung Association of PA 810 River Ave. #140, Pittsburgh, Pa 15212 or the National Kidney Foundation at kidney.org/donation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
