He was predeceased by: his wife Patricia Vogel Heitzenrater; his great grandchild Elliot Heitzenrater; and his siblings, Leon Heitzenrater, Gene Heitzenrater and Wanda Freas.

He is survived by: his children, Bradley Heitzenrater (Christine) of Gerry and Laura Cuica (Richard) of Vandergrift; and his siblings, Charles Heitzenrater (Betty), William Heitzenrater (Judith) and Ethel Yvonne Thompson (Dwayne) of Rochester Mills. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
