He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Ann; his parents, John J. Sr. McFadden and Winifred McFadden; his siblings, Jack, Frank McFadden and Mary Moran; and his son-in-law Charles Dunlop.

He is survived by: his children, Lisa Dowdy (David), Nancy Dunlop, Kathleen McPeake (Paul), Thomas M. Jr. (Megan) and Jennifer Missimer (Chuck); his grandchildren, Marissa Dowdy, Brendan McPeake, Keira McPeake, Charlie Dunlop and Emma McFadden; and his brother Jim. He is also survived by many nieces & nephews.
