He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter "Bud" Bartells and Elizabeth "Pat" Bartells (Cook). He is survived by: his pet Bailey; his daughter Megan Shelly (Ben) of Pittsburgh; his grandchildren, Joseph, Sarah and Anna; his son Jacob Bartells (Kim) of Perkasie; his grandchildren, Brooke and Blake; and his brother Robert Bartells of Ottsville.
