He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis W. "Luke" Crippen and Arvilla M. Seeley Crippen; his wife Barbara J. Blauvelt; and his brothers, Gordon Crippen, Roger Crippen, Rial Crippen and Melvin Crippen.
He is survived by: his children, Howard Crippen, Jr. (Laurie) of Wolcott, NY and Judy A. Crippen of Ulysses; his grandchildren, Dustin Saddock (Mia Romeo) of Clay, NY and Delicia Crippen (Leonard LeFever) of Sodus, NY; his siblings, Paul Crippen (Peggy) of Westfield, Mike Crippen (Lil) of Sabinsville, Christine Mitchell of Waterloo, NY, Lulu Myrick of Geneva, NY and Elsie Young of Sabinsville; and also Justin Prouty. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
