Mason S. Thompson Obituary
Mason S. Thompson, 17, of Tyrone, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. Born on October 2, 2006, in Lock Haven, he was the son of Jared S. Thompson of Tyrone and Heather A. Smith of Castanea.
Mason was a junior at Tyrone High School where he had a huge circle of friends. He was of the Christian faith. Mason was very proud to work part-time at Lykens Market in Port Matilda. He really liked his coworkers. They were like family to him.
Mason enjoyed playing sports: baseball, football, and his favorite was basketball. Because of his height, it was easy for him to make baskets. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and anything outdoors. He loved nature. He recently found an interest in working beside his dad on cars. After doing his homework, you could find him playing on his Xbox and gaming with friends. He was always available to lend a hand to those who needed it. He strived to be a friend to everyone.
Mason liked to take long car rides with his mom and listen to music. He looked forward to warm weather so he would spend time at his Pap Smith's pavilion, where he would play volleyball, fish, watch TV, and have picnics. He also had a large number of friends in the Lock Haven area he enjoyed hanging out with.
Mason is survived by his father, Jared Thompson and his fiancé, Victoria Wilkes, of Tyrone, his mother, Heather Smith and her companion, Adam Worden, of Castanea, paternal grandparents, Danny and Cathy Thompson of Bellefonte, Maternal grandmother, Deb Smith of Castanea, and a sister, Skylar E. Smith of Mill Hall.
Also surviving Mason are his two aunts: Mandy Sprout and her husband, Heath, of Blanchard and Brandy Smith-Castro and her husband, Gama, of Swissdale, two uncles: Bing Smith, Jr and his wife, Deb, and Zachary Smith and his wife, Kendra, both of Castanea, and by numerous cousins. We can not forget his two dogs: Deja and Dozer, who will miss Mason terribly.
Mason was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Bing Smith, Sr.
