He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry T. Updike and Ellen L. Updike (Hafer); his siblings, Harry H. A. Updike and Christine Jukes; and his brother-in-law Marshall Teeters (Robert Jukes).
He is survived by: his sisters, Mae Teeters, Esther Updike (Dave) and Rose Keith (Jim). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.
