With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Janet Y. Tonkay of Tyrone, Pennsylvania, who passed away on October 25, 2024 at the age of 90. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Janet Y. Tonkay to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Rev. Budd R. Smith and Martha Smith (Wolfe); her husband Joseph A. Tonkay; and her sisters, Shirley Sease and Marjorie Smith.
She is survived by: her children, Douglas W. Tonkay (Tami) of Mt. Airy, Gregory L. Tonkay (Pamela) of Orefield, Michael A. Tonkay (Kelley) of Landisville and Betsy J. Babik (Daniel) of Grantville; and her grandchildren, Joshua, Nicholas, Jesse, Madison, Brian, Marissa, Kelly and Alex. She is also survived by three great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, November 17th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Christ United Methodist Church (1359 Pennsylvania Ave, Tyrone, PA 16686). A memorial service was held on Sunday, November 17th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
