He was predeceased by: his wife Valerie Mullen; his parents, William Mullen and Christina Mullen (Kerr); his daughter Josephine Mullen; his siblings, Joseph, John Mullen and Margaret Ramann; his parents-in-law, Josephine Witkowski and Joseph Witkowski; and his siblings-in-law, Lottie Pavlovich and Stephen Witkowski.

He is survived by: his children, Jean Mullen, Debbie Janof and Christopher Mullen (Eileen); his siblings, Jerimiah, William, Vincient, David, Michael Mullen, Mary Murphy, Katherine Sweeder, Theresa O'Neil and Christina Isedyke; and his grandchildren, Kevin, Kyle, Ryan Janof, Emilie and Meaghan Bailey.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in James' memory to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 30 E.D. Preate Drive, Suite 108, Moosic, PA 18507.
