He was predeceased by: his parents, Alba Ainey and Evelyn Carey Ainey; his friend Donald Teeter; and his sister Leona Vanderpool. He is survived by: his wife Eleanor Passmore Maryott Ainey; his children, Jenny Jennings (Daniel) of West Franklin, PA, Duane Ainey (Sheena) of Burlington, PA and Steven Ainey (Suzanne) of Ashland, VA; his stepson Thomas Maryott (Zen) of Clinton; his cousins, Gordon Carey (Linda) of Great Falls, Montana and Gary Seymour (Diane) of Sugar Run, PA; his sister-in-law Rebecca Enck of Oneonta, NY; and his friends, Henrietta, Gary Stotler and Marcella Hoose.
Interment will be private in the Wysox Cemetery, Wysox, PA The family suggests that contributions be directed to the Animal Care Sanctuary, P.O. Box A., East Smithfield, PA 18817 in memory of Walter D. Ainey.
