He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Slater and Lura Slater (Alexander); and his brothers, George, Glen and Phillip.
He is survived by: his wife Viola Slater; his son Dale Slater; his daughter-in-law Eileen; his daughter Tina Slater-Kerrick; his adoptive daughter Paige Slater; his grandchildren, Jordan Williams (Curtis), Mitchell Kerrick, Kenyon Slater and Evan Slater; his great grandchild Aurora Kerrick; and his siblings, Darwin Slater, Ellen Sandor and Wilma Barone. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Viewing was held on Monday, January 13th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Jr. Funeral & Cremation Services (1093 W Main St, Troy, PA 16947). A masonic service was held on Monday, January 13th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Gerald W. Vickery Jr. Funeral Home (1093 W Main St, Troy, PA 16947).
