He was predeceased by: his parents, Matthew Joseph and Margaret Anna Shanley (Plutchak); his wife Barbara J. Thomas; his siblings, Lawrence Shanley (Wanda) and Frances Shanley; and his son-in-law Robert Ives.
He is survived by: his daughter Denise Ives of Troy; his grandchildren, Cara May of Troy, Robert Ives II of Oneonta and Adam Ives of Port Orange; his brother Robert Shanley (Betty); and his nieces and nephews, Leo of Ogdensburg, Lyle of Ogdensburg, Larry Shanley (Kami) of Ogdensburg, Sue Girdon of Williamsport and Barbara Waldeisen of State College. He is also survived by five great grandsons.
Due to the recent pandemic, A private graveside service will be held at the St. Michael's Cemetery in Canton.
