He was predeceased by: his father Calvin Shafer. He is survived by: his spouse Nehelda Shafer (David); his mother Dorothy Huyett (Hersh); his children, Solomon Shafer, Samuel Shafer, Verde Maree and Amanda Shafer; his grandchildren, Samone, Tyler, Taiyana, Caleb, Remi, Mila, Raine and Levi; and his great grandchildren, Ava and Violet.
