He was predeceased by: his parents, Leon Bender and Eva Houtz Bender; and his siblings, Doll Herner, Clare Koppenhaver and Robert Bender.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Ellen Jones Bender; his children, Lynne S. Houtz (Tom), Sheryl J. Johnson (Kevin), George A. Parson (Gwen), Loyalton and Meredyth E. Hubler (Noel); and his brother Marshall "Jack" Bender. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren.
