He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles R. Gillette and Eleanor Shores Gillette; his sister Eula Gillette; his siblings-in-law, Elizabeth, Clyde Bresee, Gertrude, Francis Glenn and Stephen Barner; and his son-in-law David Shanks.

He is survived by: his wife Margaret Barner; his daughters, Susan Shanks of Towanda and Sally Gillette of Towanda; and his siblings, Christine Shaffer of Liberty Corners and Almon Gillette of Chesapeake. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
