He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl R. Gates and Ella J. Gates (Wood); and his siblings, Mark Gates and Lorraine Gourley. He is survived by: his former wife Rhonda L. Conklin; his children, Amanda Blake (Roger) of Titusville, Ellen Gates (Keith Urey) of Titusville, Timothy Gates (Morgan) of Titusville, Michelle Gates (Robert Murdoch) of Titusville and Mark Gates (Alexandria) of Lancaster; and his fiancée Terri Vroman of Titusville. He is also survived by several grandchildren, a great-grandson.
