He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Hayes and Evelyn Hayes (Hollabaugh); his wife Loretta Horam; and his siblings, Donna Siggins, Forrest Hayes and Mark Hayes.
He is survived by: his daughter Heather Smith (Adam Oakes) of Kane; his grandchildren, Alia Smith of Kane and Cole Smith of Kane; and his siblings, Fern Throne of Kane, Monna Fay of Kane, Jan Swanson of Wilcox, Fred Hayes of Kane and Todd Hayes of Rasselas. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
