He was predeceased by: his parents, David R. Jones and Ethel M. Jones (Husted); his sons, R. J. Jones, Jr. and Joseph D. Jones; and his granddaughter Jenna Kriner.
He is survived by: his wife Ann E. Jones; his daughters, Sherry (John Reed) and Lynne (Scott Kriner); and his cousin Shirley Miller of Wellsboro. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his memory to Second Chance Animal Sanctuary, 725 Gee Road, Tioga, PA 16946.
