He is survived by: his wife Kathleen M. Kilhefner (Barrett); his children, Nicole M. Kilhefner, Galen C. (Gina Kilhefner) and David R. Kilhefner Jr.; his grandchildren, Cameron Kilhefner, Theodore Kilhefner, Finnegan Kilhefner and Everleigh Kilhefner; and his siblings, Kathleen Shopf, Jane (Ted Dellinger), William (Janine Kilhefner) and Mark. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
