He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Steigerwalt and Rachel Steigerwalt (Arner); and his brother Robert M. Steigerwalt. He is survived by: his brother Rene Steigerwalt (Rita) of Charlotte, NC; his nephew Eric; his nieces, Laura and Julie; and his great-nieces, Mae, Beatrice, Kyle, Clare, Ellen and Maya.
