She was predeceased by: her husband Richard J. Kinder. She is survived by: her daughters, Kerri C. King (David) and Teasha A. Kinder; her brother Michael Pelt (Deb); and her grandchildren, Emerson and Sawyer King.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Hilde's memory to The National Children's Book and Literacy Alliance.
