It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Barbara J. Ripa of Swoyersville, Pennsylvania, born in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, who passed away on January 22, 2021, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Puchalsky and Anna Puchalsky (Shalata); her husband Raymond; and her siblings, William, John, Thomas Puchalsky, Anna Yonkondy, Marcella Gowisnock and Elizabeth Vanyo.
She is survived by: her children, Janet Ripa, Lorraine Baer, Michael Ripa (Elizabeth), Mitchell Ripa (Irene), Jacqueline Ripa-Weimmer of Howell, NJ, Judy Orebaugh of Richmond, VA and Raymond Ripa Jr.; her grandchildren, Matt Baer (Beka), Ryan Baer, Jessica Baer (Pat), Adam, Garrett, Jordan Ripa, Kristen Weimmer, Lindsay and Natalie Orebaugh; her great grandchildren, Rylan Baer, Loukas Ripa and Grayson Baer; and her siblings, Thelma Evanko of Morganton, NC, Lorraine Bebey and Lawrence Puchalsky of Hartford, CT. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Due to concerns over the current pandemic, in-person viewing and attendance at the funeral service will be private.
She was well loved and respected by all her colleagues, and she was a longtime member of the Bell Telephone Pioneers, a charity organization associated with Verizon.
