He was predeceased by : his parents, Richard G. Matthews and Belva Matthews (Clark); his wife Doris I. Matthews (Wood); his children, Richard M. Matthews, Jr., Robert M. Matthews, Arthur J. Matthews and Marla D. Keefer; and his siblings, Belva Keener, Ruth Ann Laughlin, Howard Matthews and Robert Matthews.
He is survived by : his sons, James E. Matthews (Bonnie) of Madison and Vincent D. Matthews (Marci) of Sutersville; his sisters, Brenda Minda of Elizabeth Township and Anita Keffer (John) of Georgia; his grandchildren, JJ, Ronnie, Ricky, Richie, John, Vincent and Alex; his great grandchildren, Jeffery, Alona, Mya, Mason, Lilan, Addie, Ridley, Aubree, Rowan and Avery; and his son-in-law Ronald Keefer of Sutersville. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
