He was predeceased by: his parents, John Kuchta and Anna Kuchta (Zlock). He is survived by: his wife Theresa Kuchta (Robins); his sister Evelyn Kuchta; his nephews, Thomas Robins (Theresa) and Robert Robins (Ann); and his caregiver Israel "Izzy" Gonzalez (Tammy Fisher). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In 1992 he was a founding board member of the Panther Creek Valley Foundation dedicated to preserving the heritage of Anthracite Mining by operating a mining museum while reopening the No. 9 Coal Mine for public tours in Lansford, Pennsylvania.
