She was predeceased by: her parents, Harold Oldham, Sr. and Helen Alley Oldham; her husband James Merat, Sr.; her brothers, Irvin and Harold Oldham, Jr.; and her stepdaughter Denise Ferguson.

She is survived by: her close friend Russell Manners; her son James Merat (Nicole); her stepdaughter Tina Kennedy; her siblings, Bill Oldham, Emma Burger and Gladys George; and her grandchildren, Damian, Ethan, Kyle, Isaiah, Destiny, Cheyanne, Danielle and Travis. She is also survived by 4 great grandchildren.

Her family suggests donation be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory.
