He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, William Patrick and Louise Mae Shanahan, Jr. (Folse); his wife Doris Hunsinger; his son William Patrick "Pat" Shanahan, IV of New Ringold; his siblings, Daniel Shanahan of Drums, James "Eddie" Coyne of Long Branch, NJ, Michael Coyne (Jeanne) of Wilkes-Barre, Martin "Bootsie" Coyne (Lisa), Mary Carsia of McAdoo and Harriet Harris (Dave); his sister-in-law Janet Shanahan of Hazle Township; and also, Jessica Myers of New Ringold, Rock Glen of New Ringold and Marcia Myers of New Ringold.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Butler Township Senior Citizens, 411 W. Butler Drive, Drums, PA 18222.
