Julia D (Becketti) Elbertson Obituary
Forked River-Julia D. Elbertson, 75, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Easter Sunday , April 17, 2022 after a vigilant battle with cardiac disease. She was born in Forked River on November 7, 1947, the daughter of Frank and Edith (Arnold) Becketti.
Julia graduated Central Regional High School. After graduation, she married her sweetheart when he returned from The Vietnam War. They raised their daughters in their hometown amongst friends and family. They remained married for 50 years before going their separate ways, this event forever changed the path of Julia’s life.
Over the years, Julia worked for several different local businesses as well as volunteered her time holding positions at several local organizations. Her treasured memories include teaching Sunday School under her lifelong Pastor, Reverend Norman Britton , in both the Forked River and Lanoka Harbor Methodist Churches. Julia was a proud American and not only dedicated her time and energy to the VFW but was also a founding member of the Ladies Auxiliary #10118.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Ronald and Frank (Billy) both in 2000. As well as brother-in-laws George Schoenberg and Kenneth Devlin.
Julia is survived by her sister Mildred Schoenberg-Devlin and daughters Denise A. Fleitman, her husband Michael G. Fleitman of Stroudsburg, PA, Maryellen M. Pitera her husband Dr. Matthew J. Pitera, M.D. of Toms River, NJ; eight grandchildren, Amber Fleitman, Samantha Fleitman, William Pitera, Ella May Pitera, David Pitera, Anna Pitera, Elizabeth Pitera and Alexander Pitera. She is also survived by a host nieces and nephews and life long friends.
A service in remembrance of Julia will be held in her hometown of Lacey at the Lacey Twp Methodist Church, 203 Lacey Road, Forked River on May 7, 2022 starting promptly at 9:30am.
In lieu of flowers, and to honor Julia's giving spirit, pleas for donations in her name are requested to be made to the Lacey Township Food Pantry 102 Station Drive, Forked River, NJ.
