He was predeceased by: his parents, Edith Pooley (Miller) and Cecil Pooley; and his daughter Virginia Dinnell (Michael). He is survived by: his wife Carol Pooley; his children, Donald (Loralee), William Knott, Phyllis Kimpel (Lawrence) and Candace Washburn (Rob); his sister Margaret Phillips (Anthony); and his son-in-law Michael Dinnell. He is also survived by twenty-five grandchildren and forty-three great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
During the years of the Cancer walk he organized "Jack's Friends" team, he served as President of the Friends of the Library and the Hughs Library Foundation.
