He was predeceased by: his parents, Emil J. Schappert Sr. and Joan Schappert (Meighan); his daughter Amy Laura; and his brothers, Robert and James.
He is survived by: his wife Sharon Schappert (Kanick); his son David; his daughter-in-law Lorin Schappert; his daughter Sara Ferguson (Neal Johnson); his son-in-law Doug Ferguson; his siblings, Joan Brett (Jerry) of Colorado, Cathy Tkaczyk (Dave) of Shavertown and Tom Schappert (Beth) of Florida; his aunt Theresa Murphy of Wilkes-Barre; and his grandchildren, Cate, Venus (Sophia) and Gabe Ferguson. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
