She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Martha Stringer and Paul Emerson Merchant; her husband David Millikin Dickens; her siblings, Eva Pauline Merchant Harrison and William Fewell Merchant; her children, Mollie Ann "Annie" Dickens Grill of Skytop and Paul Hayden Dickens of Montana; her granddaughter Hannah Catherine Grill Puleo of Connecticut; her sister-in-law Paula Merchant; her nephews, Paul Emerson Merchant of Chapel Hill and Larry Harrison; and her niece Martha Harrison Weber. She was also cherished by her brother 21 years younger, same parents and no children.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes any memorial contributions be made to the Weldon Public Library in North Carolina (6 West 1st Street, Weldon NC 27890).
