He was predeceased by: his parents, McCarrell Engel and Anna Rebar Engel; his spouse Shirley Crosson Engel; his children, Michael J. Engel and Michelle Anesetti; and his sister Patricia Kisko.
He is survived by: his daughters, Andrea Engel of Strabane and Melissa Engel (Paul Unruh) of Chambersburg; his brother Dennis Engel (Jill) of Canonsburg; his grandchildren, Nichole Gladd (Donny), Joseph Malardie, Jr. (Lilly), Justin Malardie (Amy Templeton), Beck Unruh, Dane Unruh, Ronald Bush-Betarie (Jeremy), Mandy Preteroti (Selina) and Andrew Betarie; his great grandchildren, Lylah Gladd and Connor Gladd; and also, Rosie and Henry. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and his animal.
