He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael Joseph Vahey and Francis Haggerty Vahey; and his brothers, John Vahey and Daniel Vahey. He is survived by: his wife Betsy Carol Winstead of Momeyer, NC; his children, Michael J. Vahey III (Kathleen Major Vahey), Kelly M. Vahey (Kevin Edwards) and Karen Vahey Baroody; and his brothers, Brian Vahey and Robert Vahey. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
