He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry W. Marsteller and Mary Helen Marsteller (Manifold); his wife Mary Elizabeth Marsteller (Ramsay); his daughter Helen E. Rineholt; his grandson Nathan Lee Marsteller; his sister Ruth Trout; and his brothers-in-law, Charles Trout, Marcus Ruff and Fred Matthews.
He is survived by: his children, John W. Marsteller, Jr., Martha E. Halvorson (Kevin) and Susan M. Helms (Stephen); his grandchildren, Jason Rineholt (Alecia), Matthew Rineholt (Morgan), Jeromey Marsteller, Heather Grove (Corey), Catherine, Victoria, Daniel and Timothy Halvorson; his great grandchildren, Ava, Austin, Paige Grove, Daniel, Elizabeth and Sara Rineholt; his son-in-law Donald Rineholt; and his sisters, Jean Ruff, Edith Matthews and Janice Felzenberg (David). He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
