He was predeceased by: his parents, James J. Schmidt and Marie N. Schmidt (Alban). He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth A. Schmidt (Czapski); his children, Donna Hacker (Glenn Davis), Sherry Vick (Craig) and James, Jr. (Rebecca Selby); his grandsons, Jeffrey, Samuel (Adreanna Hacker), Craig and Michael (Ashley Vick); his stepgranddaughter Kerri Davis; his stepgreat-grandson Archie Hansford; his sister Linda Eckhart (Gene); and his nephews, Chris and Todd Eckhart.
