He was predeceased by: his children, Willie James "Pete" and Olamae; his siblings, Ella L. Kent Williams, Margaret Ann Kent, Arlenza Hopkins and Hiva; his grandson Frankie Kent; and his children, Mary Kent, Steven Kent and Marie Coleman.

He is survived by: his wife Agnes Kent; his sister Duralee Alexander; and his grandchildren, Agnes "Nicy" Switzer, Theresa Kent and Myleah Coleman. He is also survived by his ten great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
