He was predeceased by: his parents, Evi Scholz and Julia Kulas Scholz; and his sister Sandra Mennerich. He is survived by: his sons, Alexander and Nicholas Scholz; his siblings, Craig Scholz (Jenny) and Diane Sturdy of Rochester, NY; and his brother-in-law Donald Mennerich.
