John E. Foley Obituary
John E. Foley, 75 of State College passed away on June 3, 2023, at his residence. John was born on April 1, 1948, in Holyoke, MA a son of the late Thomas J. and Mary K. O'Hara Foley. John is survived by his wife Darla K.. Meyers Foley at home. Also surviving is his step-son Stacy (Lori) Thomas of Loganton, his 3 step grandchildren; his 6 step-great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Thomas J. Foley, Jr. of Sandwich, MA, Richard (JoAnn) Foley of Wooster MA and Mary McCafferty of Annapolis, MD. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 1st wife Carol Young Foley and his brother, David Foley.
John was a veteran having served in the U. S. Coast Guard, from January 23, 1967 – June 21, 1971. John received his Associate of Arts Degree at Northampton Community College in 1974, and his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1978 from Penn State University. He was employed at J. C. Erlich from 1984-1993, and from 1994-1998 at Chem Tech Exterminating; from 2001-2021 he was a school bus driver, from which he retired.
He also was a U.S. Census taker in 2000. John always enjoyed telling stories and taking canoe trips. He was the drummer in the Baldheaded Blues Band. The family would like to give a special thank you to Melissa Hamilton and Paula Chronister and all of the goons! There will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date.
