He was predeceased by: his parents, L. D. Markham and Eleanor Collins Markham; his former spouse Claire Cochran; his wife Marlene "Dee Dee" Decker Engle; and his brothers, Larry and David Markham.

He is survived by: his children, Michelle Clements (Thomas) of Landisville, Leslie D. Markham Frye of Miramar Beach, FL, Larry D. Markham (Sharon) of Clearfield, Sharon Salathe (David) of Carmel, IN and Michael C. Markham (Colleen) of Noblesville, IN. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
