He was predeceased by: his parents, Clara Hillson (Egle) and Charles T. Hillson; and his siblings, Alma, Bernice, Melvin and Gilbert.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia Ellen Fulmer; his daughter Carolyn Ann Sorensen (Roger Sorensen); his stepgrandchildren, Andrew Sorensen and Kate Prisk (Sorensen); and his sister-in-law Eleanore Morrow of Wilmington, Delaware.. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, monetary gifts may be made to the American Heart Association or Our Lady of Victory Church.
