With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Arlene Helen Thompson of State College, Pennsylvania, born in Kenmore, New York, who passed away on February 13, 2022 at the age of 88. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Arlene Helen Thompson to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Merle Goodspeed and Helen Goodspeed (Formanowicz); her husband Dr. James G. Thompson; and her sister Marilyn Miller of Tonawanda, NY.. She is survived by: her daughters, Ellen Garcia (Dana) of Venetia, PA and Christina Mattioli (Terry) of York, PA.; her grandchildren, Alexandra, James Garcia and Victoria Mattioli; and her siblings-in-law, Gary Miller of North Tonawanda, NY and Anne Giopulos of Jamesville, NY. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
It was Arlene's wish that memorial contributions be directed to the Penn State chapter of Uplifting Athletes (http://www.upliftingathletes.org), a national charity started by members of the Penn State football team focused on funding research for cures to very rare diseases.
