He was predeceased by: his former wife Jacqueline Sambol (Jackie); his son Richard Sambol (Christine) of Sonoma, CA; and his siblings, Esther Levinson (Jules) and Morris Sambol (Lena). He is survived by: his children, Linda Charapp (Ron) of Pittsburgh, Fort Myers, Jerry Sambol of Pittsburgh and Canice Sambol of Monroeville; his grandchildren, David Charapp (Betsy) of California, Kevin Charapp of Colorado, Corrine Charapp of Pittsburgh, Matthew Sambol (Jill) of California, Corbet Sambol (Brittany) of California and Ashley Quail (Michael) of Virginia; his great grandchildren, Arianna, Isaiah, Daniel, Will Charapp, Lily, Caden, Sydney, Sloane Sambol and Grant Quail; his close friend Lillian Markowitz; and his spouse Jackie Lappin.
