He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbur Schopf and Gertrude Schopf (Carroll); his siblings, Mary Jean Treftz (Schopf), Roger Schopf and Caroll Melchior (Schopf); and his son William Schopf Jr. Walt Schopf Sr..
He is survived by: his daughter Beverlie Potter; his grandchildren, Jillian Murray (Matthew Murray), Kathryn Isch (Steven Isch), Ian Campbell, Alyvia Chiemingo and Samantha Schopf; his great grandchildren, Mason Isch, McKenzie Isch and Nolan Murray; his stepgrandchildren, Julie, Timothy Jr. and Michael Potter; and his sisters-in-law, Sonia Melville, Josephine Curry and Dottie Wasmundski.
