He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Salerno and Matilda Salerno (Barco); his wife Kathryn Salerno (Fitzgerald); his daughters, Joanne Margetich and Cheri Murray (John); and his grandson Craig Salerno.
He is survived by: his children, Thomas Salerno Jr. (Ewa) and Kathryn Gallimore (Matthew); his grandchildren, Tommy Salerno (Vanessa), Troy Salerno (Courtney), Alivia Jane Gallimore, Nicholas Gallimore, Natalie Margetich (Dennis), Denise Margetich and Stephen Murray (Ashley); his great grandchildren, Hope, Aidan, Erica, Kimberly, Evelyn, Mason, Ryann and Nolan; his siblings, Kay Tomlin, Ann Houston, Rose Crowley, Rita Van Houten and Mary Howell; and his close friend Cheryl Baylor.
