He was predeceased by: his parents, John D. Smay and Sarah Smay (Bailey); his wife Edna F. "Eddie" Smay (Bursee); and his brothers, Byron and Dennis Smay.
He is survived by: his children, Gary Smay Jr. (Kelly), John Smay (Christi), Brian Smay (Marisa), Monica Smith and Eric Smay (Terra); his grandchildren, Kylie, Haidyn, Quinn, Rylee, Amilyah, Bailey, Caiden, Rayna, Keegan and Andrew; and his siblings, Rodger "Pudge" Smay, Karen Beschler and Shelly Moates.
Visitation was held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc. (621 Maple St, South Fork, PA 15956). A funeral service was held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 at 5:00 PM at the same location.
