MATHIS – Brenda Jo, 61, South Fork, died August 8, 2021, at home surrounded by loving family, after a 6-week battle with cancer. Born December 6, 1959, in Johnstown, daughter of Luther C. and Marcella (Purelli) Anderson. Preceded in death by parents; and brother, Brian Anderson. Survived by husband of 44 years, Jeffrey T. Mathis, whom she married August 6, 1977; beloved daughters, Jessica, wife of Corey Yochimowitz, South Fork; Stacy, wife of Tim Box, Sidman; and Nicole, wife of Scott Yeager, South Fork; cherished grandchildren, Devin, Paje, and Haylee Yochimowitz; Daimen Box; and Von and Victoria Yeager; sisters, Debra, wife of Terry Greathouse, Mine 40; Gail Boring, Seanor; Liz, wife of Bill Killinger, Portage; and Dorothy, wife of Randy Gantt, New Bloomfield.
Graduate of Forest Hills High School, class of 1977. Brenda earned her LPN certification from Greater Johnstown Vo-Tech and graduated as a Registered Nurse from Regents College, New York. Her professional life was dedicated to caring for others, having worked at Laurel Crest and the Church of the Brethren Home (Windber Woods).
Brenda was a free spirit who had a compassionate understanding of others. Her unconditional love and sense of loyalty challenged us to always be better. Friends will be received from 2 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.
