He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Shaffer and Edna Mae Shaffer; his brothers, Harold, Kenneth and Clayton Shaffer; and his pet Murphy.
He is survived by: his wife Carol S. Freed Shaffer; his children, Hank Shaffer (Jan) of South Connellsville, Steve Shaffer, Brooke of Dunbar, Melissa Dyer of Connellsville, Luke Shaffer (Ashley), Hannah Groover (Dustin), Samuel Wayne Shaffer, Spencer Shaffer, Shane Shaffer, Joseph Lee, Jacob Lee, Jackson Lee and Madelyn Dyer; and his sisters, Ethel Wishard of Connellsville and Sonnie Luoma of Carmichaels. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
