She was predeceased by: her husband James A. Shaffer, Sr.; her parents, Ralph Savitz and Margaret Savitz (Brown); her children, Brenda Kay Shaffer, Jean Marie Shaffer and James A. Shaffer, Jr.; and her siblings, Donald "Willie", Onley, Clarence Savitz and Bertha Swingle.
She is survived by: her son Harry Shaffer (Nancy) of South Canaan; and her sister Irma Sheard. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a large extended family.
